With E-ON , moving in with partner. Utilita blocking switch?
I cannot understand this. I just got an email from E-ON saying that Utiliita, which is who my girlfriend pre pays with has blocked my switch.
I am just about to move in with her and have I intention of paying extortionate rate pre pay tariffs. Any idea why they are blocking? My girlfriend said she previously had a debt but this was paid off, hence why she now has a meter.
I have now been on the phone to Utilita for nearly a hour and nobody is answering.....
Any idea what could be the issue?

Just wonder if its due to you not being the existing account holder.0

The supplier will only deal with the person who's name is on the account
"........ hence why she now has a meter" - Does this mean she now has a PAYGO meter?
If so most of these can be scrolled through to show debt if some exists, or failing that have gf contact Utilita and ask.0 -

Hello Risco and sorry for the late reply. Just spotted your thread.
When a losing supplier blocks a switch, they let us know but don't give the reason. It's usually down to an outstanding debt or an issue with the meter details. As your girlfriend cleared the debt, I suspect it's the latter.
With switches, all suppliers use the national databases that hold details of all energy meters in the country. Discrepancies here can lead to objections. Don't worry, if this is the case, these databases can be put right but only by the current supplier.
They'll need the full postal address as held by the Royal Mail, the serial numbers on the meters themselves and the supply numbers. These are also known as the Meter Point Administration Number or MPAN (electricity) and Meter Point Reference Number or MPRN (gas). They'll be on your girlfriend's bills.
As JJ Egan and Dogshome say, suppliers will only deal with the account holder unless permission has been given to a third party to handle the account.
Hope this helps point you in the right direction Risco and thanks for your interest in joining us.
