    Have a read of this:

    https://www.citizensadvice.org.uk/scotland/benefits/universal-credit/on-universal-credit/budgeting-advance/

Although it doesn't specifically cover what you have mentioned if your course is connected to gaining employment it might be covered.

Only thing to do is to ask the Job Centre and see what their response is.
  • When you apply they do not ask what you will use it for.

Depending on your circumstances and the course, there is a possibility that the Job Centre might consider funding. Job Centres do have funds available to cover some training courses and associated expenses.

Ii is worth asking your Work Coach, after supplying them with full details of course and the various costs.

Re advances, they ask you to confirm that it will be used to start or keep paid work, cover any essential domestic expenses or pay costs linked to moving home. They don't ask you to state exact reason.
The comments I post are personal opinion. Always refer to official information sources before relying on internet forums. If you have a problem with any organisation, enter into their official complaints process at the earliest opportunity, as sometimes complaints have to be started within a certain time frame.
