Hive single channel wiring into Baxi DuoTec 2 boiler

Morning all,

I'm wiring a Hive single channel reciever into a Baxi duotec 2 combi boiler that was originally runnning a baxi programmable controller.

Studied both manuals (hive and baxi) and wired it in however something isn't right. The hive thermostat and single channel receiver are talking to each other fine, its just the connection between the single channel receiver and the baxi boiler that seem to be the issue.

there are two thinner black wires that went to the Baxi controller. I wrongly assumed that the hive would just connect to these two in ports 1 and 3 as per instructions but the boiler throws up e83 (non communication error) as a result of the baxi controller being removed and promptly turns on the heating and turns the house into an inferno.

I then tried removing these two wires and wired the hive into terminals 1 and 2 in the boiler as per the boiler instructions. still get error 83 and the heating running permanently.

Can anyone help. much headscratching has occured.

Have you wired upto the low voltage block or the block on the back of the control box?

I wired up the low voltage block thinking it was low voltage switching.

but all it does is throw up the e83 error after a few seconds of disconnecting the baxi programmer

Ok win! just got the boiler to respond to the hive. it needed to be wired into the higher voltage block.

the only issue is now the boiler switches into error 83 when the original baxi controller is removed from the low voltage block. How do I go about removing that as it is now redundant.

Read the instructions, you probably need to link the low voltage side. Instructions will tell you though, look for the section that says connecting to 240v controls.
