Charged twice for hotel room

Hi all,
Upon a recent visit to Las Vegas, my girlfriend and I paid $545 at check in for our room.
However after we had left, our credit card has been charged the $545 again by the hotel.
I don't have a receipt for the initial payment in cash (could be that we didn't get one or misplaced it, we were very tired after long flight)
I have spoken with the hotel manager and he is going to look into the CCTV, I have also spoke with the credit card company who said they can dispute if we cannot come to some form of resolution.
I just wondered if anyone had been in a similar situation and could give any advice if the hotel comes back and says they cannot see record of this.
Should I possibly report it has a crime?
Can I legally request footage of the CCTV?
Should I ask to see a report of the till float when it has been cashed up at the end of the shift?
Any other pieces of advice of what I could possibly do next?
Thanks in advance

Can't see this being a crime - But by all means contact the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Deprtment if you believe it is.
You'll have to see what the law is regarding requesting CCTV.
You can ask, they will probably tell to go away or words to that effect.0 -
Thank you powerful_rogue,
I am unsure if the Credit Card company dispute the claim that without proof of cash transaction, we may still need to pay.(I've never had to dispute anything before)
I suggested reporting as a crime, as if the hotel say we did not pay in cash (therefore hasnt been put through their till correctly) then they have essentially stolen from us (I know a bit OTT)
And lastly, I would hope that they checked the till float, as if they didn't put the cash through correctly, then surely the receptionists till would be over by quite a large amount.0 -
Also posted on the Overseas Travel board, with more answers. Might be worth getting the threads merged.0
