Hi I attended a f2f assessment with my hubby 2 weeks ago , they had us waiting in waiting room for almost 2 hours over our appointment, to which my husband was physically sick in the room as he doesn’t cope well in strange environment or around strangers as his suffers anxiety and depression amongst degenerative condition which he has had for over 15 years , he has been in support group for over 12 years and had the anxiety and depression to fit this length of time,
When we eventually got called into the room with the assessor, she basically asked 4 questions does he have a bath ? Can he make a meal? Can he dress himself ? Does he ever have suicidal thoughts we was never asked regarding his physical problems he had ie walking standing moving around expect she said “ I see you use a stick” albeit all the problems he has physically and mentally we’re on the firm we tried to explain how they affected him daily but she shot us down and said I get back to that ( she never did
after only 10-15 mins being in the room She said that’s it you can go wait the results result came hevput in WRAG group his condition has not changed only worsens in over the last 12 years his gp sent letter stating he has limited mobility in multiple joints and suffers anxiety and depression and said he is not fit for work . I don’t understand they ignore everything and obviously think his conditions have vanished how can you be in support group for so many years then be put in wrag group
He was not asked to do anything physical at the assessment. In assessment my husband was shaking sweating even cried as he was so distressed , I’ve asked for the report and will be asking for. Mandatory appeal “ What are the changes of itv being overturned and him being put back into the Support Group, Thanknyounin advance for any replies of help x

Have a read of the following to ensure you challenge the decision in the best possible way: https://www.citizensadvice.org.uk/benefits/sick-or-disabled-people-and-carers/employment-and-support-allowance/while-youre-getting-esa/challenging-an-esa-decision/

I do think you are reading too much into what the DWP think. I don't think they believe that his conditions have vanished, but just that they are less serious that you consider them to be. You need evidence that he can't undertake the work-related activities that members of WRAG are expected to undertake.

    Good luck

Here are the support group descriptors:
    https://www.benefitsandwork.co.uk/employment-and-support-allowance/esa-glossary/1353-support-group-descriptors
    And Regulation 35:
    http://www.cpag.org.uk/content/making-exception
i.e - substantial risk to the health of a person if the claimant has to participate in work related activities
(Note that the DWP seem to be listing less onerous work related activities ln their appeal papers, in order to widen the numbers of claimants who can participate).

Do any apply to your husband? Why was he placed in the SG previously?

I would suggest seeing if your local advice agency / CAB can help with the appeal.

Hi my husband was put in support group lst time for Not coping with change due to his anxiety and depression , but he also has mobility issues to so feel as though he qualifies for the support group 1 12. 13
We recurved the assessors report today but they haven’t sent us the score points sheet with it
The summary of HCP she does state that :
Based on Evidence Significant Functional Disibility is Likley with going out and coping with change”

Does that alone not qualify him for support group again ?

She also said he REFUSED a Muscoskdton examination ?
She never asked him to do one or even physically asked him to do any tasks , it’s like reading a different persons assessment
Can I ring on Monday and ask for the points sheets I understand it’s not about points for the support group but would like to know we’re and if she gave any points .. he has medical letter from go saying he doesn’t cope with change and in his opinion is still unfit for work suffers depression anxiety also has muscoskeleton problems in lower limbs spinal knees hips etc she had the evidence in front of her as well
Yes she’s put he had no lower or upper limb difficulties
He was also physically sick in assessment in tears but she failed to note that and other things in her report
    Any advise please
