Failed plumbing part. Should I be expected to pay?

Hi all.
Last January there was a leak in the outlet pipe from the toilet pan. The flooring was ruined and I paid a plumber to fit a new floor and replace the pipe.
All was fine until today, 10 months later, I noticed a crack in the surface of the new pipe. It's not leaking as the crack isn't all the way through the pipe but I don't want it leaking again.
I rang the plumber who did the job back in January and he says he'll call next week to look at it. It's a simple job to replace the pipe, which may have been faulty (or badly fitted?)
My question is should I have to pay for this? I feel bad having to call him back but if it's left and get worse then it'll leak again.

Just perhaps you could chat with the plumber about it?0

I suppose so. I don't suppose it'll be worth arguing about. If I fall out with him then I'd have to pay someone else anyway. Just wondered where I stood legally.0

I would expect to pay unless it is unambiguously a problem with the fitting, which would be hard to prove.0

Any chance of a pic of the offending part ?I'm only here while I wait for Corrie to start.
You get no BS from me & if I think you are wrong I WILL tell you.0
