Solicitor didn't pay off my mortgage after property sale, then didn't remove the charge

So you didn't go "Ooops, the solicitor failed to do that", and immediately phone the lender, ask for the redemption figure, and transfer that amount to them yourself, before checking they'd received it and removed the charge?

It'd have all been sorted in a day.

If they broke the law on "not being entirely competent", then you may wish to consider how it applies to you, too...
