Bank Transfer - Still Awaiting Money

Someone made a bank transfer to me this morning, but so far I have received nothing in my account. The sender has provided me with a screenshot of their bank account showing the transfer made, and with the correct details of my account.

I called my bank just to make sure there was nothing queued, which there wasn't. They said the sender should ask their bank to put a trace on the transfer.

I believe the transfer was done in branch rather than online, so am just wondering if it might have gone by the slower BACS service for some reason. On the screenshot it just said TRANSFER.

Any thoughts appreciated.

I don't believe a 3-day option is available these days. That's reserved for organisations such as employers, pensions providers, and benefits payments using batching payment runs via BACS Direct Credit.


The payment will arrive by close of business on Monday 29/10/18, subject to any security checks.

Is this person known to you?
Are they pressurising you to release goods on the understanding that this money is on its way?
A branch faster payment should have arrived into your bank account normally within 2 hours but they have until the close of business the next working day (Monday) to comply with the regulations.
It may be that your bank are doing background checks about this money (they would not tell you about those).

If you have sold anything do not release the goods - its very easy to copy a pretend bank statement.

I have an update on this. The money has been credited to my account today (a Sunday) which was rather unexpected. This is not the first time the timing of things in the banking system proves a mystery to me!
