Glide Student Bills

Myself and my flat mates signed up to Glide - the student bill splitting company. We were told that an engineer was coming to install our wifi and that we needed to be in the property. We got the wifi router via delivery, and installed it ourselves. We remained in the property but with the house being multiple floors, didn't hear a knock of the door. Nothing was posted through the door saying that we had missed a visit, and none of us received a phone call alerting us that the engineer had arrived. The next day we were told that we were being fined £120 for a missed visit. We asked why we were being charged this, as we had been in the property the whole time and were told that the engineer had been supplied with the wrong phone numbers for us therefore couldn't ring us. The following day we rang up Glide again, asking why we were being charged this amount. They said that they had evidence that we weren't in - we asked for this and they sent us a picture of our front door. £120 for students is a lot of money that we don't have! Is there anything we can do to get out of paying this fine - which we shouldn't have?

Not sure how wifi is related to Energy matters, but that's students for you; the cream of our educational establishment of today

£120 is the correct additional charge for a missed engineer appointment, as per the terms and conditions you agreed to.

As you seem to accept you failed to grant the engineer access, despite him arriving as per an appointment you were aware of, I can't see how you can avoid this charge this time.

Perhaps consider getting yourselves a doorbell fitted that can he heard throughout the house? Or there are some that you can take the bell with you from room to room, so that you never miss that important call at your door ever again (as long as you are in, which you seem to suggest you were)
