Yorkshire/Clydesdale Bank merger with Virgin Money?

Just had an email about the merger. It's apparently estimated to be around a 36 month transition, it will supposedly give access to more branches and offer better products and services. But overall everything will be rebranded to Virgin's brand.

I don't bank with either of them, I think I just have a savings account at 0 with YB. But I feel quite positive about the merger. It'll just be sad to see a bank disappear that's been around for over a century

In reality, Yorkshire Bank has only been a trading name for a while now.

What's crazy is that essentially it's Clydesdale Bank paying Virgin an annual fee for the brand name.

I find it sad that there is the prospect of Clydesdale disappearing. The other prospect is that since Clydesdale is one of the 3 banks in Scotland that print our money (the other two being the Bank of Scotland and Royal Bank of Scotland) is whether we will have Virgin Money banknotes.

I make a manual monthly payment into my Yorkshire Bank account from a Nationwide account.
Today I was unable to make the transfer from Nationwide.
I tried later using a different Nationwide account and encountered the same problem.


I can log on to my Yorkshire Bank account.


Has anyone else had problems trying to transfer money into Yorkshire Bank?

I've had exactly the same problem paying into Yorkshire from my Halifax account. Glad it's not just me.
