If he had PPI, any refund would be offset against the unpaid debts

You would need to ring or write to the lenders and ask them if he had PPI and then put in his complaint reasons

People are rich because they spend less money. A poor man buys $10 boots that last a season or two before he's walking in wet shoes and has to buy another pair. A rich man buys $50 boots that are made better and give him 10 years of dry feet. The poor man has spent $100 over those 10 years and still has wet feet.

No company can find out any more than you. You would need to tell them who your lenders were. They will then just post your complaint for you.

Remember to check all three credit files.

He's not even sure who all the lenders are. She may have taken out credit in his name without him knowing. We have checked his credit file but there are things not showing that we know about. Ii wondered if a company that charge to check would be the best bet. Would they be able to find out easily?

Only recently she tried to take a catalogue in his name but due to the companies due diligence she got declined and the incident was reported to CIFAS how have now put a note about the fraud on his file. Because she never obtained credit though the police couldn't arrest her!!

Claims companies just send letters to everyone and hope something sticks, they have no way of finding out. Unfortunately even though your partner has been treated badly by his ex, I can't see how it would be a complaint if he agreed to everything (by signing for it). However, post 2005 you would have little chance of being sold PPI except for a mortgage as it was largely a discontinued product by then and not offered for new cards, loans etc

Check all three credit files for what's been taken out.

And I would edit your post because most of it is not relevant and far too much information regarding a PPI complaint. If you do complain to whoever there is to complain to, don't put any of that in, stick to the facts. Which are he either didn't need it, didn't want it or it wouldn't have paid out. Single premium for loans etc.

Any redress awarded would go towards any outstanding debt so DO NOT USE A CLAIMS FIRM.
