No wifi on a computer unless it has a wifi card and no need if connected via Ethernet .

Im sorry you are suffering at the moment . I will try my best to understand your post and reply to each bit
After you reboot the router (remove the power, wait a minute then plug back in) the WIFI password will stay the same like you changed it to.I Did try to explain im sorry you feel like the way you do
THANK YOU FOR YOUR REPLIES
ill try to reset the router now do I put the password that's at the bottom or the router or the password i changed it too after the reboot.
Ok, so you dont need wifi atall on your computer because it is connected via ethernet cable, so forget about that for nowthe wifi I was hopeing to use for my other computer and the tv
the ethernet cable was connected to the hub when wind 10 rebooted with the upgrade and there wasn't any wifi on the main computer so I thought try using a dongle and the wifi showed up in the settingsI didn't know the tv wasn't working with the wifi when amazon asked why I wasn't using there prime video sorry about the long winded and sorry if I sound thick this chemo dose your head in
What you need to do now, is restart your router as advised above, then once it has been on for 5 minutes or so, use your phone to see if you can see the WIFI signal.
Just do that and let us know - dont get ahead of yourself because the questions we ask helps us diagnose this problem remotely0 -
If I'm reading you correct, then as said above, the WiFi comes from the router, not your computer. If you re-set the router then you'll need to use the settings/passwords on the bottom of the router as anything that used to connect via WiFi (such as your TV) won't be able to now.
You'll need to go into your TV's settings and either put in the WiFi password you're now using or (if it allows it) use the WPS button on the router. You will probably have to do this with all other equipment using WiFi such as your phone.
Obviously if you don't have to re-set the router then just go to your TV settings and try and reconnect again.0 -
Cheers Andy iv tried what you said iv turned the router off and reset it and turned it back on I removed the ethernet cable and when it started it wouldn't connect to the internet just kept saying ethernet cable missing or not connected in the end iv had to connect the cable back up to the router and my desktop pc I cant see any wi fi hence why I brough the dongle sorry for been a pain but thank you for your patence

Cheers colin iv done what both you and andy have advised and my phone is now set up I just need to set the other things up
I wanted to set it up before I go back in to have the other half of my liver and a hernia to be romoved last time I went in to have the other half of the liver removed I was stuck there with no radio or tv unless I paid £10 a day and I was in there over 3 weeks so you can understand why I need to sort it out so a big thank you to you and everyone else for the info0 -
Ok so if you can get the wifi on your phone then your router is working fine.
Use the same password that you used on your phone to connect up your tv.
For your laptop, please tell me ..
With the ethernet cable unplugged, can your laptop see ANY wifi networks ?
If no, then are you sure that wifi is actually turned on ?
When you click the little icon bottom right, a menu should pop up showing wifi networks .. If none are there, is the little square that says "wifi" coloured blue or not ?
