    Thanks everyone.

I was all set yesterday to use the resolver tool and I had a call from someone at mobiles.co.uk. They worked out what the issue was and apologised quite profusely for the repeated problems. They offered me compensation and assured me that, now they know what the problem was, the refund will definitely work this time. I am happy with the outcome and, despite the annoyance, would probably use mobiles.co.uk again.

The problem was (dont read this next bit if you get bored easily) that my phone cost £180 up front but I used a code for £10 off, so I paid £170. The refund amount all the agents tried to process for me was £180 but the system would reject as it didn't balance with the amount I paid. Annoying really because every person I spoke to said "Your £180 refund will be with you soon" and I told evey one of them that I paid £170, not £180.

And no, it had nothing to do with my bank - they had absolutely no part to play in this as the payment didnt go anywhere close to being paid into my account.

Thanks for the heads up about Resolver too - I wasn't aware of it but it looks useful for the future.

    Cheers!

Glad it's slowly raveling (opposite of unraveling) for you and that you continue to update the thread. I would suggest to a board admin that they move this to Consumer Rights as it's nothing to do with banking or budgeting.

Expecting a positive outcome and a small (3 counties) fanfare for mobiles.co.uk when the money comes through.

Probably worth reading the thread again (especially post #5) to see why that would be neither appropriate nor productive.

Hint: it's nothing to do with the bank....

A bank can help if a refund has gone missing and has not been deposited. They are an interested party and it has pretty much everything to do with the bank. Thank you.

As I read this thread no refund had gone missing. The refund had not been processed and until it has/had the bank are not an interested party. You are welcome.

    Update.

The refund appeared in my bank account on Monday, finally. £170 that I paid them is there, so good news.

However, on the phone they told me, unprompted, that they will be making me a compensation payment for all the problems I have had - that payment is not in the account. I was told that the payment would be made at the same time but would be seperate. Not sure about chasing this up...

Personally I would leave it at this. Yes you probably are entitled to a token gesture from your wasted time, but in reality I would just make a note not to use this company in future.

At least you updated the thread, which is more than most.
