Hi Twinklie, just reading about your overpayments, you are doing really well. We have a new mortgage this year and I'm making similar overpayments. I wasn't planning to make any for a year, but I've decided to keep those zeros before the decimal point too and its really addictive (in a good way).
Sounds like you had a lovely Christmas, and its great to read about your veg patch planning. When we lived in the countryside I used my old Hunter wellies but they were really cold underfoot and uncomfortable. I also had a pair of Dunlops, really robust and you could stuff lots of socks inside. There were about £10: https://www.wychanger.com/dunlop-pricemastor-wellies/p11238 My SIL has lovely lined wellies - Le Chameau Vierzon - but they are about £150. I have borrowed them and can say they are lovely and comfy. If we ever moved back to the countryside I would treat myself to a pair."Think of many things, do one"

Awww thanks SandyShores. Hopefully we can potter on together. I can see from your signature you are building up your emergency fund too. So it does look like we are pretty similar in our plans right now.
Nice to have someone to bounce off to try and offer reassurance and encouragement. I've joined some of the challenges but my OP's are going to be much smaller than most and it can be fairly demotivating sometimes. I know it's not a competition but I could only dream of the OP's some others make. I appreciate any OP is a good OP thought.
So we had a free day out today, took the kids on a nature walk in the local area and they are pretty tired now and just playing on the computer. So another NSD, until I actually get round to getting things I needs. Wellies for me, new waterproof pants for DS 2 because he's just trashed his - although they are hand me downs from his brother so I can't complain to be fair.
Last mortgage payment of the year tomorrow, so I'll pop on to check the balance and round it down as promised. I'll then have my starting figure for 2021, which is exciting.
I've been reading various news articles re: schools opening and I'm not sure what's going to happen. I need them to tell me tomorrow though at the briefing so I have time to prepare the kids either way. I suspect primary schools will still go back, that's what I'm expecting anyway. I'm also expecting to move into tier 4, but we shall see.
Just cashed out £5.19 from Prolific. And pulled up 3 carrots from the veg patch. I'd only popped out quickly so didn't have anything on my hands could only do the three before my hands got too cold. Doh! There's more to come though.Reduction in daily mortgage interest since October 23 (new mortgage) - £2.36 July 25

I also need to buy wellies. Does anyone have a particular brand or type of welly they recommend? I did have some but they have completely broken now. I tend to go on a lot of woodland walks near my house so wellies would be useful for that and for the school run.DFW (08/08) £64,346.53 Gone (02/19)

Oooh how exciting, another veg grower! I'm looking forward to encouraging each other along the veg growing journey too.
Today my monthly payment comes out, just checked my balance and it's not been processed yet so I'm illogically incensed! They are interfering with my plans. How can I plan if they don't change the bloomin' balance. I was hoping to do a OP to tidy up my final figure for the year so I can start 2021 ready to crack on.

I feel your pain twinklie. I've decided not to long into my mortgage account for a few days because the payments aren't being processed by faster payments"Think of many things, do one"

Well I've managed to make some progress. My payments currently come out on the 30th of the month. I've just arranged for it to come out on the 15th January and then 10th of the month there after. It will save some additional interest days too, which is exciting. Given my daily interest is so high, I'm pretty chuffed about that. Although I've just realised it's going to royally !!!!!! up my spreadsheet!
We both pay half the mortgage into a joint account. We both get paid on the last day of the month, the money moves into the joint on the third and can take as long as the 5th to clear. So I felt the 10th gave us a bit more wiggle room than an earlier date. It should also mean I can do the 00.00 at the end of the month and know exactly what I'm paying. So at least now I feel like I've made progress.

Well that's us in tier 4 now. It won't really make much difference to me to be honest, but it'll be interesting to see what happens with schools over the next month.Reduction in daily mortgage interest since October 23 (new mortgage) - £2.36 July 25
