A good point, although it's not a case of Iberia being cheaper it's that flights from outside the UK are [mostly] cheaper due to the taxes/charges imposed here.

No, it's because IB do NOT charge ludicrous amout££££ for "airline charges" as per BA.

Best use of AVIOS is NOT to fly BA

In the past I’ve used them as money off a long haul flight and also for European flights.

I won a return flight to Budapest a few months ago but the return flight time (I had no say in the timings) was about 7am barely 36 hours after my arrival. I wasn’t going to bother using the flights but then it occurred to me that I should just book another ticket back. For about 11k Avios and £25 I’ve got a business flight back the following day.

For the few extra Avios and about £8 I think that it’s worth business for the food and drink (lounge and onboard) but there’s no way I’d pay the full price for them.

    No.

The best use of Avios, is the route that suits the person using.

For us it's £12K of flights for next to nothing. It may be the next person finds a free night at the Hilton a good value, or a case of wine....beauty is in the eye of the beholder.
