JSA question

My temporary job ends on the 31st October. I get paid monthly so I won't get my final pay until the end of November.
I don't have another job lined up so I wondered if I'm allowed to claim JSA at the start of November, even though I won't yet have received my final pay from my job.
I'm hoping to find a job before then but just wondered out of interest.

You might need to claim universal credit depending on where you live https://universalcreditinfo.net/0

If you do need to claim benefit you would first need to check whether you are in a Universal Credit area https://ucpostcode.entitledto.co.uk/ucdate
If you are in UC area you would only be able to apply for ‘new style’ JSA if you meet qualifying conditions for having paid and/or been credited with NI contributions from April 2015 to March 2017.
Alternatively you can claim UC.
For UC earnings are taken into account when they are received - but only 63% are taken off the UC payment. Therefore if 63% of your payment in November will exceed your maximum UC it is better to claim immediately after receiving that payment.
For JSA earnings received after the last day of employment should be disregarded and therefore you could claim the day after the last day of employment (although there is then a 7 day waiting period before you Re entitled to be paid).Information I post is for England unless otherwise stated. Some rules may be different in other parts of UK.0
