I know it's a really basic question but how long does it take for a cheque to clear - never needed to know before but I paid a biggish cheque into my Lloyds current account yesterday and want to transfer it on to my savings account a.s.a.p.

I've never banked with LloydsTSB but with other banks I've used which have a 3 day clearing cycle if the money was paid in on Monday I couldn't spend/move it until Thursday.I'm not cynical I'm realistic
