Amazon Vouchers

Options
My mum's just told me she purchased 150 quids worth of Amazon vouchers and that they are payment for reclaimed ppi. She said she doesn't have to hand them over till her cheque from them clears but it still sounds shifty to me? Anyone come across this before? Thanks 😊

  • Sounds very dodgy, don't let her hand them over. Ask who she used to reclaim the money and if she has a copy of her contract paper or on email. You'll find out there if it's genuine or some scam to make her think she's getting something.

It doesnt cost anything to put a PPI complaint in.

1 - Has she actually made a PPI complaint?
2 - Has the bank/lender confirmed her complaint in writing?
3 - Has the bank/lender written to say what the complaint outcome is?

Payment via vouchers or similar is a common fraud method.

My advice is not to hand any money (cash or otherwise) to these people. PPI complaints are free to make, this sounds like something else entirely.

This exploits faults in the basic mechanism of cheque clearing.
The cheque will be paid into her account and she will see the money in her account.
She pays the amazon vouchers across.
The cheque will be discovered to be fraudulent and the money withdrawn.
