Hi,
I need urgent advice as my local shop is doing a Tom Tom deal which ends tomorrow.
It's for a TomTom One V3 GB for £117.
I know nothing about satnavs and I am looking to buy this as a gift for my dad. Is this one any good? I know it's uk only but could my dad update it with euromaps later?
Thank you very much for your help :T

Yes, it's a good model. Europe maps can be added later through the TomTom site.
Others may follow with cheaper options, but TomTom is the market leader for a reason.- = I also recognise the Robins and beep for them = -0 -
Sounds like a decent enough price.
Everyone I know has a TomTom, and they all love it. It's also the market leader. Enough said.
Yes, you can download alternative maps later from the TomTom website.Of course, I may just be talking b****cks!0 -
and get custom voices!0

I'd agree...i've had navman & mio sat nav setups but always go back to tomtom i've had a 510 for over a year now with no worries!
Its a pretty good price as well...you can download updated euro maps etc from tomtoms site as suggested, they've just done a map upgrade recently & are offering any updates at 50% off till Jan 2008 so might be worth getting the euro maps as well while so cheap?

my SIL has a tomtom and swears by it. he drives a huge number of miles every yrs so a decent sat nav is a great asset.
afaik you can upgrade that model.Get some gorm.0 -
Thanks everyone. Some people have said that this version you can't upgrade with euro maps later. It's not got an SD slot and only has an internal memory.
Thanks for all the help and advice. It's much appreciated0 -
The internal memory is only 512Mb so it cannot have the euro maps installed onto it. The Eu has 1Gb memory to accomodate the larger map.0

You really need the slot type if you want Europe maps. I had to buy a 1GB Sd card for my V2.
BTW it's great in fog! It can't keep you on the correct side of the road but it does let you see bends and junctions ahead.

I have tomtom on my phone, and lots of custom voices(most of which are just really bad impersonations), the phone came with Copilot, but I found that to be a bit rubbish and it was quite happy to send me the wrong way down oneway streets or dead ends, it must run off 5 year old maps, Tomtom I found much better, even though it too finds some funny routes. There are 10 types of people in the world; those who understand binary and those who don't...0

Thanks to everyone. I've now purchased the TomTom one V3 for £117. It's quite good and it has a £10 voucher in the box too.
Thanks again.0
