You might be happy that you haven't had it done in years to come - tattoos do not improve in appearance as they age.
  • Is this the current trend of ladies shaving off their eyebrows and drawing them back on? I don't understand it personally but that may be because I'm a bloke ...

The normal 'cancellation period' is 14 days, so you have missed that. That period can sometimes be extended but then you start getting into some pretty technical legal arguments that are not worth it over £100.

Personally I am inclined to think this sounds like a non-refundable deposit and not something you would be entitled to get back if you chose to cancel.

If you really want to have this somewhat bizarre treatment done then wait until you are no longer pregnant and have it done then, as the provider has already offered.
  • Ummm no, eyebrows are not shaved off then drawn back on.

Anyway! It just seems unfair that she is essentially hanging on to my money for realistically a year when she has no terms and conditions regarding deposit.

Ok thanks. It was eyebrow microblading. There was no face to face, all booked online directly with her. When I paid deposit she never stated any terms and there are none on any of her social media. It was only after I had to cancel, and then asked for it back she told me it was non refundable.

Then in that case you have up to 1 year and 14 days to cancel. Its up to her to make sure she complies in order to protect her position as a seller.

Do you actually have an address for her though? If not, your hands will be tied and the most you could do would be to leave bad (but factual) reviews and report her to trading standards (usually done via citizens advice now as many TS offices wont take complaints direct from the public).

Just to note that technically a deposit is a reservation fee - and thus can legitimately be kept in full because it is payment for the reservation (and as such wont be more than a very small percentage of the whole contract price). An advance payment, on the other hand, is subject to the normal rules with regards to liability for damages, can form a substantial part of the contract price and can't be made non-refundable unless its an accurate preestimate of costs incurred.

The latter would be moot though if the OP had the right to cancel under CCRs - as obviously the right to cancel is to do so without liability other than those specifically stated in the legislation itself.
You keep using that word. I do not think it means what you think it means - Inigo Montoya, The Princess Bride
