Driving from south wales to blackpool
On sunday I'm driving from south wales to blackpool using the M50/M5/M6 but I'm not sure of the route so I'm wondering if the M6 toll is on my route there and on the way back home.
I will get on the M5 at Junction 8 Strensham Interchange and follow the M5 all the way until the M5/M6 intersection Junction 8.

M6 toll is on the other side and you would have to take either the M42 from Bromsgrove all the way around the NEC or come back on yourself for the M6 through Birmingham to connect to it.0

I asked a boy in work and he said you don't go on the toll road but I can remember my cousin boyfriend saying when they went to blackpool he used the m6 toll road and it was a lot quicker.0

I suppose it could be if traffic conditions warranted it.
Do you have a smartphone? I use Google maps (other free apps are available) even for journeys I know very well just for traffic avoidance. Not infallible but it's saved me a few holdups.
Edit.
Just checked on maps and leaving now, going direct from M50, M5, M6, M56 is 178 miles and estimated to take 3hrs 22.
Add in the M6 Toll via M42 and its 199 miles and 3hrs 24.0 -

It might on a few rare occasions be quicker if the M5 is badly clogged but it is about twice the distance in miles and costs £5.30 on Sunday between 06:00 and 23:00 hours.
Check traffic reports and, unless there are serious problems, stick to the M5, it will almost certainly be a lot quicker and cheaper.0 -
As said in the second post, the Toll Road starts around the other side of Birmingham on the M42. (You could get to it by travelling in the 'wrong' direction for you when you join the M6 and then back to the M6 Toll - but I can't see why you would want to.)
Your route sounds correct.
There are heavy roadworks just after junction 3 of the M5 at the moment, its added about 30-45 minutes to my journeys in the week just lately - but traveling on a Sunday you should have less of a delay I'd think.0 -
