I still want to know why someone who is 25 years an IT engineer cant fix a mouse problem amongst other menial things ..

There were three or possibly four files.
.inf
.cat
.sys
cant remember the fourth type that was only there for some drivers though.

Now there are at least three, usually four, but five are not uncommon either
.inf
.cat
.sys
.PNF

to backup your drivers: elevated command prompt
md c:\Drivers
Dism /Online /Export-Driver /Destination:C:\Drivers
