  • Morning ((((((((((hugs)))))))))) if you need one.

Good news Hester that CHS is coming home today, I hope he continues to make progress over the next few weeks.

Off to Aldi shortly. OH is staying here, promised he will not go out to the garden until I get back, there will be big trouble if he does go out!!

Sun has just broken through, although according to the weather station it is 6c lower than it was yesterday...brrrr.......

Sausage for supper tonight. banana for dessert.
  • Good morning chums,

Last night, as suspected was work > dinner > football > bed. Longer lie this morning as I didn't go to the gym since I'm working late tonight. So I'll be non-stop from now till 10pm.

With that in mind, it's a quick one from me. Hope everyone has a wonderful day :)

    Morning all
We had a lovely day yesterday, the meal was great...... I had sea bass and Mr Fix It went rogue and had a rack of ribs and paprika chicken. All that meat yuck! Dad too was amenable although he had forgotten that it was our anniversary. When DD collected DGD last night she brought me a lovely bouquet of autumn coloured flowers ( red, orange, yellow, gold ) and gave us some cash too. DGD wasn't too ill yesterday until tea time when she went downhill fast, so she's here again today. Bless her she's up and down like the buses :(. DD thinks she has a septic throat/tonsillitis ( sp) but at the moment she is happily colouring in some Halloween pictures with Mr Fix It ready for the party next week. It seems I am hosting it again :D. I will have to get my thinking head on for that, if I can remember where I put it :rotfl:.
I have stripped the bed and put a wash in the WM, the bedding will follow and I am going to hang it out as it's sunny but cold. It will get some fresh air if nothing else.
Tea tonight will be a pasta bake if I can fit in making it, somewhere in between sticking and painting I think :rotfl:. Oh and we also have some pottery to do too ! If I don't have time it will be fish/chicken and oven chips, Dad has been invited but he will see if he's well enough to come over later.
Right the WM has finished so I will swap the clean wash for the bedding. Catch you later .
Hope everyone has a good Thursday. Take care and hugs all round.
    nan xx

Good Morning :hello:, Oldstylers - cloudy start to our day in the Liverpool area - but, at least according to Auntie Beeb's weatherperson, it's not going to rain today :).

Thanks for starting us off, Nelski. Looks like you've got yourself a really busy day ahead - just make sure that you take time to breathe BEFORE your visitors actually arrive ;)! Hope that HH is managing to keep herself calm/pain free :).
ScarlettRibbons - enjoy yourself at the Shopping Outlet and hope you manage to get your bathroom finally sorted soon ;).
camelot1001 - hope you're feeling better today than you did yesterday :).
tru - I'm another who can't stand having lots of different toiletries open at the same time - love decanting stuff and getting rid of bottles into recycling :j. My DD's bathroom drives me crazy because her kids have a tendency to open all kinds of different things before items are used up .
nmlc - hope you manage to get your DM's hair sorted for her Dsis funeral - would she be better having a 'mobile hairdresser', bit less hassle when they actually come to you. I definitely don't miss ITProbs from my working life - hated 'online training programmes' :(.
Organza Lace - enjoy your day with 'Diva' (not sure if that's her name or your nickname for her ;))
dumpling - enjoy your day with grandchildren and your friend - good to have other company when there's 'littlies' around ;).
redruby - hope your cold doesn't materialise into anything really nasty :(. Love the sound of your 'pet bomb shelter' - my cat used to love his 'cat cave' when the grandkids arrived en masse ;).
Hester - brilliant news that CHS is coming back home today - hope all goes well for you both :D.
silver-oldie - hope your DH has a better day today.
-taff - enjoy your 'curtain project' - sounds interesting. I'm not sure whereabouts you are, but we have a fabulous Fabric Company in the NW that has athree branches. In Liverpool they have a 'remnants section' where they actually weigh the fabric and sell it by the kilo - nickname locally is El Kilo's ;). My favourite shop, I get lost in there for hours :rotfl:.
maddiemay - I like your idea of massaging Arnica Oil to help with joint stiffness, so might give that a try - thank you.
csarina - sounds as though autumn is really biting in your neck of the woods - hope your OH 'does as he's told' ;).
Speky - have a good day in work, Speky :).
nannywindows - sounds like you all had a lovely time yesterday - good to hear that your DDad was in a good frame of mind ;). Hope DGD is soon feling better and that you all have a great Hallowe'en gathering next week.

((((Gentle Healing Hugs)))) for all who need them - especially those who are sick, caring for others or just feeling a bit alone right now :).

My DD is still in Disney Paris with her children, so no 'Nathan-sitting' for me again today - they're back home tonight ;).

Just had a phone call from DS2 - inviting me to go and stay at their house for a few days during the 2nd week in January ................... ooh, lovely :j! The flip-side (the one that didn't get mentioned first), is that he and DDiL will be away for a few days - his 40th birthday :rotfl: - but at least he's given me a couple of months notice this time of asking ;). I get to have their three boys (17,10,2) all to myself .

Nothing planned for today, so think I'll get on with my 'long-awaited' freezer inventory - I've a feeling that I'll be hanging my head in shame by the end of the day :o:(.

Have a good day everybody :T.

    Morning ,

    Enjoy your visitors Nelski :)
Bit drizzly here but mild, dropping a lot later. We could have done with a log delivery really before a cold spell.DH cut up a load of offcuts at work ready to fetch home, forgot them that day, then discovered the roofer had made off with them  cheeky blighter- DH has told him to fetch them back but a week on they havent appeared yet.
TA thanks for the update,I will be thinking of you tomorrow.I do know the recent funeral we went to was very special because of the speeches and memories read out by the family,& I hope Bob's celebration of life is equally as special. Many hugs xxx
More hugs to Holly,Poppy Taff.Glad to hear CHS is on his way home HH.

I had a little trip on the bus yesterday to Bury Market.I've never been on a Wednesday as it would be a struggle to be back before I'd have to set off again to pick DGS up from school so took advantage of half term.It was really busy.I didnt get much apart from some food bits & some super glue to mend my boots but picked up a cardi in a CS that looked new.
I have to wait in for some deliveries today, one just been delivered by H ermes. He is a regular driver here and always gives me some biscuits for Ly1a :)

Next door appears to be chopping down a tree in his back. DH had a chat to him outside last night,he has been busy putting a fence along the back wall, and between him and his next door neighbours shed ( something I suggested months ago and got shouted at by his OH) - which seemed very strange when he is the one thats been to the council to get the back street opened up after 25 plus years. He admitted that he didnt really want it opened up so I dont know whether he has informed the council or not.We were under the impression it had gone too far now and would be going to a magistrates court for them to decide, but then again we haven't heard anything from the council since early summer. All that needless worry if it can stay as it is ! He doesnt seem to know the rest of us all sent objections in ;)

Time for another coffee I think, hope you all have a good day xx

  • Morning all, another late post from me as although I have been up since 4, I decided that coming here would be a post job treat.

I have removed the plinth boards in the kitchen (they were loose) cleaned them and cleaned out the dusty mess underneath. Also a fluffy potato, not quite sure how it got there but it was fortunately quite dry and fluffy. Not stinky. The sort of job that makes little visible difference but gives you an inner glow or in my case, backache. I did this in pjs and then had a bath.

No special plans for the rest of the day. I usually potter out even if only the tiniest walk but it isn't a nice day so not sure.

With love to the poorlies and carers, special thoughts to TA and good news about CHS.
I was jumping to conclusions and one of them jumped back

Ollie, I'm in the South West so too far away from them unfortunately :(
They sound good though, I did have a quick look at their website...oh dear, I'm never travelling there that's all I can say, my stash already overfloweth...I've got to root through it to put some stuff on ebay, got lots of vintage and hard to get stuff that other people like to buy thank goodness.
I picked up my sewing machine and learned two new tricks for it though. One - never unthread it, do a reef knot to the new thread and pull through, and two, cross over when you fill a bobbin. All the years I've had it and was using it, it looks like lately I've been threading it completely wrong...

The place I take it to , he's a very old gentleman who completely knows his onions [or sewing machines]. I feel I might take another one [I've got three and an overlocker] in just to have a chinwag and learn more stuff :)

  • My sewing machine guy is brilliant, too. He learned his trade years ago, during a spell in prison (he told me that himself) - to help himself with a 'New Start' when he got out :T. He has a very tiny 'cupboard of a place' that is stacked to the rafters with old machines and bits/pieces - he was delighted when he saw my machine for the first time. It's a Singer 401G (one of the first electric embroidery machines from Singer) - a true classic and I :heart2: it :D!
