Problem with NS&I Mini cash ISAS

thanks a lot I understood a mini cash ISA was easier to access when needed
that was why we chose it
The Direct ISA is also a mini cash ISA, it's just got a different name. It sounds as others have said, as though you have chosen the "wrong" ISA with NS&I - but as LazyDaisy explained, this is probably the interest for the previous tax year only which you have just received.0 -

Surely CS could have easily explained that to the OP?Debbie0

They did. In the terms and conditions.
Why do we almost demand to be nannied sometimes? It's not healthy.
And the more people who unnecessarily phone help lines rather than doing some pretty basic internet research, the lower our collective interest rates.

I think you can transfer it to the much better interest rate Direct ISA at NSandI.
Unfortunately as eugenieooo opened the ISA after 6 April 2006, NS&I won't allow them to transfer their existing cash ISA to the Direct ISA - as per the T&C I quoted in my previous post.

I'm not saying that people shouldn't do basic research, but the OP clearly didn't understand the rate applied. It's an easy mistake to make if you aren't familiar with the way interest periods work. How many times do people on here get muddled about rates applied to regular savers, for example?
In this particular case it would have helped if the CS were manned with people who could explain clearly and in terms the caller could understand such that they didn't have to make more than one call. It would probably have improved the customer satisfaction, too.Debbie0 -
The NS&I Direct ISA is only available online and does not accept transfers in from other providers, but I am not sure about transfers from another ISA run by them.0
