I would just leave it and when the baliffs turn up just explain the situation and give them the landlords current address
That's what I plan to do, explain the situation.
His current address however wont be easy as the last I heard he had moved in with his girlfriend who now according to Facebook is now engaged to someone else so he is whereabouts unknown.
He is a plumber by trade but I cant even find him advertised in local plumbers. I know he lived in a town about 20 miles from here but whether or not he still does is anyones guess.0 -
just pray its not a house repossession thru not paying mortgage or bank loan on your property0
-
Well Im assuming again, that it all relates to the first letter from the customer wanting her money back but the thought of him getting repossessed eventually has crossed my mind.0

I would stop signing for mail addressed to someone else.
Bit late now, but that seems to be the start of your trouble.0 -
I agree. If anything else comes which needs signing for I will refuse. The thing is that when this one came I happily signed as I had no reason to think he would not come for it.
I thought that if it needed signing for it is obviously important so I just expected him to come and collect it.
I will know better in future.0 -
It's a bit of a nonsense that you don't know your landlord's address.
Ask him formally:

It's a criminal offence for him to not tell you0 -
I intend to get the details when I finally see him. I knew his address when we moved into the property and then when he moved to his girlfriends he put tenants into the other house he was living in.
Ive only recently found out that he is not still with the girlfriend.0 -
I certainly wouldn't have accepted a signed for letter, you should have declined so that it was returned to the sender. None of this is your responsibility, and having informed the LL that the letters are there you should just return anything else with "not at this address" written on them and let him take the consequences. If bailiffs do come to the door all you need to do is not let them in.0

Depending on the size of the claim, it may be HCEOs that attend not bailiffs. HCEOs have greater powers of entry (albeit maybe not to domestic properties).0

Indeed. But keep them outside the door and have to hand your ID and rental agreement. Don't be hostile to them but calmly explain they want your landlord, show them ID and tenancy agreement. Don't let them in. If you can tell them where he actually is living, so much the better for you.0
