BW Legal threatening a CCJ

I've just recieved a voicemail from a company called BW Legal, after speaking with them on the phone I soon learnt I was in risk of getting a CCJ.
Completey confused I asked them to start from the beginning to explain how it had gotten to this point. They said they had my 'debt' transferred to them from NCP after I failed to pay for parking back in March 2018. They said they have been sending me letters to which I've not recieved. Once they told me the car park, I knew exactly which one is was as I've only ever parked their once, and the reason I haven't used the car park again was because it was expensive. My partner paid for the parking which was something ridiculous like £7.00 (I remember this as we had a little bicker over how expensive it was, I said I would of parked somewhere else) but at that point it was too late as he had paid.
All of these months have gone on and I recieved nothing apart from my recent voicemail and text messages saying 'Dear....., We have recently written to you regarding a personal business matter. Please call us on 01134870430 and quote ref ......'. In all honesty I thought it was a scam message so never thought anything of them. I've only since learnt that it was in fact them (Oops!).
I explained how I had not recieved any communication via the post and asked why I hadn't been contacted by NCP initially to which they said I should have been. I also told them how I had paid for parking etc and the person from BW Legal said it was too late to start an appeal now, I should have done it at the start. BUT how could I when I knew nothing about it!
The debt owed is £240.06 and I am at risk of getting a CCJ which will stay on my credit file for 6years which I really want to avoid as we're looking at buying a house in the next 12months. Is there anything I can do here?

The risk is minimal, they have to take you to court, win, and you then refuse to pay the Court Order.
The debt owed is £240.06
This is probably more than the Law allows, and they may have added on costs to which they have no entitlement, i.e. fraud.
Even if they took you to court and won, the most a judge is likely to award them is unlikely to exceed £200, including court fees.
They know this, but try it on, why not complain to their regulatory body The SRA
http://www.sra.org.uk/home/home.pageYou never know how far you can go until you go too far.0 -
BW Legal are acting as useless scummy debt collectors and they lie to get their ill gotten gains, do not talk to them again by phone and block their number.
This is not a debt it is an alleged debt, and one parking charge can not as TD says have jumped up to this greed ridden fee!0 -
If you have received no letters ... have they got your correct address or have you moved recently
Here are the facts about getting a CCJ

BWLegal are well known for playing with words to scare you but in reality they know the above
"They said they had my 'debt' transferred to them from NCP"
Another rubbish play on words, NCP cannot transfer the debt to them, they just instruct BWLegal
You will not owe £240.06, part of that is a fake add-on and BWLegal are trying to extort money from you (£60)
Before anything can happen, they have to send you a Letter before claim and prove to you the claim and give you 30 days to respond
You must write to BWLegal or email them as keeper of the car to
advise of your current address and request confirmation
DO NOT PHONE as you you will get a failed double glazing type who will try to scare you even more.
DO THAT NOW because if they ARE sending to the wrong address, you will get a CCJ0 -
I asked them for more information as I haven't received any and they said they've sent everything and I need to request a new claim form from Northampton County Court. It was Northampton County Court that sent out a claim form (so he said) so I will phone them tomorrow to request a new one.0

Not Northampton County Court, but instead The County Court Business Centre at Northampton.
Two different establishments.
The CCBC contact details:

i have had the same issue , mine was issued by premier parking solutions then passed to BW legal , it is from May 2016 and was out side my place of work , the letter included photos of my car , other employees had received them but have chosen to ignore them , BW legal said they will issue a CCJ if i do not pay by February 9th , i spoke to citizens advice who told me to pay them??? i have read through the FAQS page , should i follow suit of my fellow workers and ignore it??? They are asking for 260 pounds when the original was 60 pounds.
My car was still running as i was just dropping off paperwork to the office!!!! .0 -
