Discount of sliding patio doors

Hi ,
I’ve got a few quotes for a sliding door / bifolds at the back of our house coming out at about £5.5k. It’s a big gap of about 5m in width so certainly not a small window, but that seems like a lot. Is there a rule of thumb of what kind of discount I might expect to negotiate or is it a fairly cut and dry price for that kind of thing? I’ve never bought windows before, but I’d imagine there’s a good bit of haggling to be done?

Big national companies start high & discount a lot. Small local companies just give you the price, take it or leave it, in my experience.Tall, dark & handsome. Well two out of three ain't bad.0

Thanks - that’s helpful to know. I guess these companies would be mid size regional types, so I’ll try my luck.0

What are they made of? We have just put alu bifolds in a holiday cottage - about 4.3wide and they were 3.5k fitted by a local firm in Cornwall.0

Just doing mine at the moment, it’s 7.1m x 2.5m high. Good quality brand, double sliding alliumium patio door £5600 + vat and around £995 + Vat for survey/fitting etc.0

We’re after aluminium ones, either sliding or folding, not too fussy, but my target price is c£4K.0
