Ignored Private PCN, now getting texts

Options
Hi All,

About 6 months ago I got a parking charge notice on my windscreen while parked on what I thought was a public road, between two sections of double yellow lines (I was not on double yellow). What I'd failed to see what that there was a building site adjacent to the road with parking signs on it. I wasn't in front of a gate or in the way of any access to the site.

The charge was issued by CPS Midlands and was for £60 if paid within 14 days and £100 after that. I ignored the charge and received a letter (Notice to Keeper) from TNC parking services.

The letter includes: "The signage, which was clearly displayed at the entrance to and throughout the car park, states that this is private land, the car park is managed by CPS Midlands and details of the terms and conditions of the car park by which those who park in the car park agree to be bound". ....but it wasn't a car park! It was between two sections of double yellow on a side street.

I ignored the letter (which demanded £100) and today I received a text saying:

"Our offices are open until 6:30pm this evening and a collections agent is waiting to discuss your outstanding account of 160 owed to CPS Midlands Ltd. Please ensure you contact our collections department before 6:30pm today to discuss your account"

So far I have taken no action whatsoever, I didn't collect any evidence at the time (I was in a rush and it was dark), and I haven't sent any appeals letters. Am I screwed? Please help me!!

I'd massively appreciate any help that anyone can offer
