Help! Peugeot 207sw anti pollution fault

I was driving home last night and the engine management light came on and ‘anti pollution fault’ and then the engine spluttered and died. It restarted straight away and seems to be driving as normal but the light and fault are still on. I did notice its idling was a bit spluttery yesterday but seems ok now. There’s no white smoke and the oil looks ok but the coolant level is low. I’ve read a few threads about this and there seems to be loads of different issues that cause this problem. I don’t have much spare cash so I’m hoping it’s not something too expensive! Any ideas?? Thanks

Get the fault codes read. Could be damn near anything.
My mother has a 207SW, same age. It popped up an APF a couple of years back - just needed a seemingly transient fault code clearing (fuel pressure), and it's been fine ever since. Or the DPF could be as clogged as a clogged thing. Or it could be the first symptoms of good ol' 1.6HDi sludge death.0 -

1.6HDI by any chance?0 -
Yes it is a 1.6 hdi.
There’s an update. I drove this morning and the engine light was on and the ‘anti pollution’ fault but then it sat for an hour, I drove it again and it’s all back to normal - no engine light or fault message and the car seems to be driving as normal - what should I do now?? I don’t want anything to get worse and I need to be able to rely on it as I drive a lot for my work. Thanks0 -

I had it on my sons 1.6 petrol, and yes it could be anything. Never sorted it but reset the codes for the MOT, which it just scraped through.
Scrapped the car in the end, as it was an utter bag of sh1te. Worse car I/he ever owned, faults were endless (google 207 to get more horror stories). Get rid of yours while it still has some valueOne man's folly is another man's wife. Helen Roland (1876 - 1950)0 -

What do you mean by 'sat for an hour'?
If its a diesel, it may benefit from a long hard drive on a motorway, thats if you are a low mileage user.0 -
Could be the DPF filter isn't regenerating, could be due to the Eloy additive tank being empty. This usually needs refilling around 80,000 miles depending on how often you top up your fuel tank, topping up too frequently will use up the fluid sooner. Not normally a DIY job.0

Its a 1.6HDI so almost certain to be DPF / EGR / Turbo related. Or possibly all 3....0 -

I appreciate its a diesel, but the petrol isnt any better, 30mpg in petrol and the same in oil. They are rubbish. Ours has gone to the car grave in the sky, thank God.
I had a 205, 1.9 GTI back in the day, now that was a car to love, it ate XR3i's for breakfast and also kicked the butts of Golf GTI's, even the 16v. They were the days, the car was pure girl batePoor BHP compared today, only 130, but then a mini 1000cc was only 39BHP, but felt faster. Ah, happy memories
