Ticket purchased,FINED!? Rejected Appeal, Ignored POPLA, Now what??

Mother (driver) received PCN for 'insufficient paid time'. Father who was discharged following a major stroke a week before the incident must have typed in the wrong number plate as parking was definitely paid for and ticket was certainly displayed (even asked to check CCTV but they said they only work by the ANPR system)
I appealed the fine and admitted my mom was driving and it got rejected, stupidly I ignored the POPLA code and appeal process and have now received a DRP from smart parking, i then rang SP not DRP and they said i cant do anything as POPLA code has expired. I know ill be advised to ignore HOWEVER receiving the letters really stresses my dad out, my mom doesn't know very good English and father no longer has mental capacity for these sorts of things. I'm only 18 but really want to somehow stop these letters. I have read the NEWBIES thread so many times but I just cant seem to make sense of it so can someone please help me and explain what i do from here. My parents also have a 15 year old severely disabled child so have plenty going on without this scaring them. TIA

They are just an irritant, so you just have to ride with them. We have no magic dust to sprinkle on this for you.
Smart are only mildly litigious and they are unlikely to want to spend in excess of £300 to recover £100. *

* Have to add this caveat. While they are not overly litigious, they do have up to 6 years to pursue you. It would take a brave man/woman to guarantee their behaviour between now and 2024. Come back (only) if you receive a formal Letter Before Claim/Action or real court papers. Please note, we are not a legal advice forum. I personally don't get involved in critiquing court case Defences/Witness Statements, so unable to help on that front. Please don't ask. .
I provide only my personal opinion, it is not a legal opinion, it is simply a personal one. I am not a lawyer.
