Estate Agent ID Verification

Hello.
I'm aware when buying a house I have to show ID to the estate agent for them verify my identity because of money laundering regulations - that's fine but I'm buying with my Husband who is overseas on active duty in the armed forces and therefor cannot physically go into the office to show his ID. Can we get his officer to certify a copy of his ID and verify his identity?
Many thanks.

There are no general rules - have you explained to the estate agent and asked them what they'll accept?
You will of course have similar issues with your lender and solicitor (and have to get signatures by or on behalf of your husband too).0 -

Really? AFAIK it's only your solicitor that needs to see them.0 -
I just recently had to do this; they had a solicitor call me and I just gave them my national insurance number. It could also have been passport or driver's licence. Didn't have to go in to any office.0

Ask agent for same documents to prove who they are.0

My estate agent verified me online.
It cost £12 to be added to the final bill.0 -

The law requires EAs to perform AML checks on anyone wishing to buy a property through them.
They're not doing it for a bit of fun.0 -
