TV screen scratched by removal men.

Evening everyone.
Has anyone DIY fixed a scratched tv screen? I've seen a few ideas online, but I don't know if I dare try them ha haa! Pencil eraser...? Magic eraser sponge...? isopropyl alcohol....?
It's a small scratch - about a couple of inches long, unevenly deep, and wiggly.
I've told the removal people, who've sent me a load of forms asking for info and proof etc that I don't have, so I'm considering trying a diy fix if anyone can vouch for them?
TIA

I would avod anything like furniture polish ect as it will leave a smear!
Have you thought about wipes/spray for computer/laptop screens? They may do the trick.
I imagine a pencil eraser will leave a smudge as would a magic sponge - I would have thought something used for computer screens and which evaporates will be a good start and you can see the size of the issue.
I had a little dent in my tv screen from moving it upstairs and down and I simply don't notice it now when I watch the tv.0 -

What info/proof don't you have.0 -
Working Mum - I'm going to pop into town this aft and see what the computer shop guy has got. There should be something, this must be a common enough problem!
theonlywayisup - They want before and after pictures; it never occurred to me to take a pic of my tv before I moved... I've sent them an 'after' pic, they now want the purchase receipt and warranty/guarantee paperwork (god knows where they are, I'm not even sure I still have them) "before any claim can be addressed".Before crowbars were invented, crows just drank at home.0 -

I think I would be inclined to send the photo of the damage, a cost for repair/replacement and take it from there.0 -
I thought that's how it would work, but they're not playing ball. They want the paperwork before they start anything else....
Hence me looking up DIY fixes online. A couple of them seem logical and appear to work. I'll see what the computer shop guy says firstBefore crowbars were invented, crows just drank at home.0 -

Have you had a read of what they've said in their contract re insurance? If there's nothing specific I would go with the quote and photos and a strongly worded letter, to be followed up with an LBA if they don't show willing.0 -
Along the DIY route - you need to tell us what kind of screen your TV has!
CRT
LCD/LED
Plasma
CRT and plasma are glass, but often (plasma especially) have an anti-glare coating - if you attack that with anything harsh you'll likely be left with a patch that will look different in some way when viewing.
LCD/LED - should be plastic. With the benefit of zero experience, and without knowing how big the scratch is, you might want to tackle it like a headlight - mild abrasive, rub, rub, rub, to soften the edges of the scratch. You may still be left with a visibly different area.
I'd be pursing the insurance route first though - read every word of paperwork they gave you, and if it doesn't mention before/after photos, you'll have a better chance.0 -
What model TV and when was it bought?0

I can warn you in advance of the next trick they will be likely to try - once you've spent some more time looking out paperwork and/or trying out DIY remedies - then more time has passed.
Followed by them trying to state that "paragraph x in the small print of the form used to book them" states that clients have to claim within x days.
So you need to be ready to quote back at them "I did claim within x days - and it's you that have delayed this by asking for this/asking for that/etc/etc - but see my letter to you of y date in which I put my claim and it DOES fall within those x days".
Having said that - when I moved here a few years back now I paid the removal firm extra to do my packing for me. When I was finishing off the packing I found two items I knew for a fact I still owned (and that many would like - as it was alcohol) had been stolen by them. They tried to wriggle out of paying for my two bottles of booze - on the excuse the small print said I had to claim within x days.
Very convenient for them - as many people will take longer than that period of time (think it was 7 days from memory?) to fully unpack and they also knew there was only me to do the unpacking. I had to be a bit persistent to get compensated for those thefts - but I was.0 -

If you used a credit card(?) you can check back to see when you bought it.
If you can remember where you bought it(?) the shop should have a record and be able to provide a receipt."A nation's greatness is measured by how it treats its weakest members." ~ Mahatma Gandhi
