And your point is?

Careless driving is a criminal offence.

The poster before you said the police took no action.

You responded to the post saying ‘The police are there to investigate criminal offences not decide liability.’

I’m saying it’s the police’s decision whether to charge or not and they will charge the person they feel is in the wrong if it’s worthy of prosecution.

Have I misunderstood what you were saying? If you’re talking about civil liability then of course the police won’t get involved.
What will your verse be?

You've misunderstood.

Your posting style (short, pithy one-liners) is utterly pointless. Unless you explain what you actually mean (i.e. you've said mattye has misunderstood - so what did you actually mean then? Because my understanding is the same as mattye's) then all you're doing is making nonsense replies.
;74955157]Both at fault.
Car driver for failing to give way. (RTA 1988 Section 36)
Biker for overtaking on approach to junction. (HC Rule 167)
Yes i saw this incident also. Pity they couldnt prosecute the brainless person who had the dashcam and took it upon herself to direct traffic instead of minding her own business and driving her own car.

I am sick to death of this modern tendancy to be Mr/Ms courteous and holding short of junctions and flashing people out. Just mind your own business, drive your own car and follow the highway code/law.

As an example when im going to work each morning i wait at my sidestreet on the give way line to turn right. Its quite possible for a car to approach from the right and stop in front of me signalling right and turn into the street from which i am emerging. Whilst that person is waiting to turn there is enough space for traffic to pass his left and continue straight on.

The number of times i have had a right turner hold short and start flashing !!!!es me off. Why dont they just get along and turn right?

I alone will decide when to pull out.

I just stop and do nothing. I wait for as long as it takes for them to turn right.

The above collision was exactly as a result of this busy body attitude to driving.
Feudal Britain needs land reform. 70% of the land is "owned" by 1 % of the population and at least 50% is unregistered (inherited by landed gentry). Thats why your slave box costs so much..

I can’t think why you’d want to wait all day rather than just pull out when people are being courteous?

There are junctions on my way to work where I’d be sat there for about an hour in the morning traffic if people didn’t stop to let cars out.

Agreed.

Does that mean buses shouldn't be allowed to pull out from bus stops either C_Mababejive? It's the same basic tenet.

Buses should be given priority when pulling out from stops, and at other times, if it is safe to do so. HC Rule 223.

Looks like the OP was watching Traffic Cops last night.

If available on my5 if you want to watch. The accident was on the A59 near Skipton.

Not sure what all this talk of Traffic Cops is. I've been in Germany since Sunday and I don't think Channel 5 broadcast here.

I'm guessing there was an incident on the show which, of course, would be the only reason anyone would ever mention such a scenario.

Advice from the police rider who took me for my IAM test: filtering is acceptable as long as a) traffic is travelling at 20 mph or less, and b) your speed differential is 20 mph or less.
If someone is nice to you but rude to the waiter, they are not a nice person.

When I used to ride I'd never dream of filtering at 20 mph differential ... more like 10 mph for me. (20 mph doesn't give any time to react if a driver of another vehicle does something stupid like change lanes without indicating, or closes the gap "because bikes shouldn't be allowed to filter").
