PIP stopped after missed assessment

Hi- Looking for some advice please.
I was in receipt of DLA and was called for assessment for PIP. I missed the appointment as I was too unwell on the day of the assessment. My DLA has now stopped due to this.
I have a partner who I live with who claimed Income Support and Carers Allowance. Both of these have now stopped too.
I am planning on submitting a mandatory reconsideration to appeal the decision to stop my DLA and also start a new claim for PIP at the same time.
My question is will we be better off claiming ESA as a couple or Income support as a couple while we wait for the PIP to be decided. I know we won’t be able to claim Carers Allowance until the PIP is back in payment.

    That's unfortunate.

Did you (or your partner) not ring the assessment centre to tell them you were too unwell to attend.
The DWP should have contacted you to ask why you did not attend - Did they do this?
Did you supply a "good reason" for non-attendance together with some supporting medical evidence?
Is this the basis of your appeal - that the DWP have rejected your good reason?
How long ago was the missed appointment?

If you are just appealing on your DLA stopping - you won't succeed. That's the procedure, you failed the PIP assessment (by not attending) and your DLA will now stop.
You need to appeal on "good reason" for not attending the PIP assessment,
If the DWP thinks you have a good reason, they will rearrange your medical assessment.

Are you in receipt of ESA?
On what basis do you think you can claim IS as a couple? I doubt that you will be eligible. Your partners IS was based on caring responsibilities.

You need detailed advice on your situation from your local advice agency / welfare rights / CAB. Take all relevant paperwork with you.
