Are BT's and Purchases treated independantly

If you have say a Halifax card that gives both purchases and BT's a 0% intro period of 15 and 6 months respectively.
If you make a BT to the card but wish to continue to use the card after 6 months. Can you get another CC to take on the BT element of the card whilst continuing to use it for the remaining 9 months for free purchasing.
Or if you do not want to incur any charges is it necessary to wind up the CC completely?

It is better to keep these two types of card separately and use one for purchases and another for BT.That way you won't make any errors over the allocation of payments if you do you will be charged interest.
You can manage a single card with purchases and a BT on it but you must finish your purchases and pay them off in full before the end of the 0% period to avoid interest. It is just easier to keep the two apart.

Since we're on the stoozing board, I feel duty bound to ask why you would pay a 3% uncapped fee for only a 6 month stooz, and then (presumably) pay another fee to shift the debt somewhere else?

Needless to say I am new to this game. I take your point, you would lose money as interest at 5% for 6 months wouldn't cover the BT fee -yes?
I will read a bit more of the instructions and posts before I get up to my neck in it.
BTW I was only using the Halifax card for the example of a 0% card for both purchases and BT. I didn't realise the fees involved.
    Thanks for pointing that out.
