Dulux Paint Mixing

I am painting my new extension. After finally choosing the colours, the only ones that match are ones that you have to get mixed, typical. Where is the cheapest place to get this??? I need quite a lot and it is bloody expensive:j :j

Dulux decorator centres - if you plan on buying a fair amount, you could negociate a deal with them for a discount.

Never a good idea skimping on paint, Dulux is the best IMO.

Agree with moob fully but bear in mind that the Dulux decorator centre have different colour charts to the ones you get from retail places, DIY centers etc. We've just done a bedroom, hall and landing, and toilet and got the lot from a Dulux centre. It is a bit dearer than DIY places but covers a larger area so not as expensive as first appears. For your bare plaster maybe get some cheap stuff of similar colour from a DIY place for watering down for your first coat.

I thought B and Q had an offer on the colour mixing... it was either them or homebase... if it IS Homebase, go into B and Q and tell them and you get the same price plus 10% off if Homebase are cheaper. The offer isn't showing online but I am certain I saw it in the paper last weekend. Might have been three for two's I can't quite remember.

The Diy stores are cheaper than the dulux decorating centres for mixing.

You could try a Johnstones/Leyland Paints Decorator Centre - if you look in your phone book there is one in most towns. They are used by the trade and the paint better quality and much cheaper than any you buy in a DIY shed. They will 'scan' any colour you want and mix it. They even scanned a kitchen cupboard door for me and came up with the right match!

I've used them for years after a recommendation from a decorator. I'm doing my hall, stairs and landing and needed a LOT of paint. The only colour I liked was a Farrow and Ball one and I certainly wasn't paying their prices for the amount I needed. I went to Johnstones but, for some reason, my colour wouldn't scan (it was daubed on a pretty scrappy bit of envelope though). However, it turned out I didn't need to get it scanned as they had a list of all the Farrow and Ball colours under the counter with a computer code for the recipe of each! (I know they're not quite the same finish as F&B but wasn't that bothered). Finally, because I was buying so much and go in so often, the nice man behind the counter put it through on his mate's account so I got a little discount.

Definitely go to a trade centre, Dulux, Johnstones or otherwise. As others say, the difference in quality alone is worth it and the difference in price is the icing on the cake. And don't be put off by it being a trade centre - I've always found the service fantastic and have never felt uncomfortable as an 'amateur'.

Now, that I think about it - why have I only just got a 'little discount'? With all the recommendations I give them, Johnstones should have me on commission!

I know for a fact that both B&Q and Homebase sell Dulux Trade Paint - i.e. the same quality as in Dulux Decorator Centres.

    Il'second that

Actually they give 10% off for cash, but the downside is they charge you Vat, thats why sometimes its better to get your paint from the DIY sheds.
