I worked on ESA new claims processing for years and it was very rare for any claimant to give precise details of the number of shares they held in a company. The figure would normally be rounded and, for benefit purposes, the precise number is important. It's really no different to wanting to see bank statements for savings between 6 and 16k.
As has been said, nobody can force you to provide that information but by choosing not to you are effectively withdrawing your claim.0 -

My work coach said the exact same thing. She's been working there for around 3 years and said she's never seen someone that has been asked to provide so much information. But even then, as you said, I either provide it or withdraw my claim.0
