Threshold line for tile to carpet

I am having bathroom floor tiled and it will be meeting carpet on landing side. The tiles are quite thick and there is boarding placed underneath.
When the door is closed should the tiling finish at the edge of the door or carry on a bit to put strip over?
I have not got the edging strip yet but am I right in thinking the strip should be under the door when closed and not to either side?
