Still going strong.

Okay so I had my old thread but after being locked out for what seemed like 5 years I have lost all control of where I am at with it.
So I am starting a new one :)
It definitely threw me off not being able to diaries what I am up to but I have stayed on the straight and narrow. Now back to business :j

  • My Current Situation

Just to give an idea of where I am at the moment.

I am currently on maternity leave with my 5 month old and having the best time ever. Unfortunately my maternity allowance ends on the 8th Feb 2019 and me and OH have agreed that I can stay off work for the whole year so until May 2019 however I need to get my half of the bills covered for the last two months, which he is helping with.
So from my calculations I do have holiday from this year to use and some KIT days but I would ideally like £1000 in a pot to cover me so I can enjoy the last few months.

So at the moment the mortgage pot and holiday are on a hold until I have secured my maternity pot. Currently at £320 / £1000.

Wow I feel my life is together again :rotfl:

  • Did the Aldi shop this morning , came in under budget at £45 would of been £37 but I grabbed some bowls for baby G for when the weaning begins and a £3.99 bottle of wine for me :)

Should be getting £75 back from a refund this week ! So I am going to use £25 to get some xmas presents and the other £50 is going straight in my savings pot !

Quite lucky as we have agreed to do Xmas cheap this year as there is so many of us in my extended family. So little ones are all getting a pressie each and adults we are doing secret santa so everyone picks out someone to buy for. Going to pop up my list to keep me on track.

    Xmas Shopping :

    Nephew - Done (clothes)
    Niece 1 -
    Niece 2 -
    Niece 3 -
    Secret Santa -
    Inlaws -
    Sister inlaw -
    My Parents -
    Baby Girl -
    Other Half -

If anyone has any ideas on what to buy a 6 month old for Xmas please share. I am not going silly with it but I still want a few things for her to have on Xmas morning.

Now baby is bathed and getting ready for bed, I am going to sit down with a wine and my dinner and watch Netflix. :)

  • When my eldest was 6 months old I bought her a board copy of "Peepo" and "Each Peach Pear Plum" by Janet and Allan Ahlberg. Both are beautifully illustrated books that are a delight to read. We shared many happy moments reading and looking together. Personally I think it's never too young to read to babies and children to help language skills and give them a love for reading.

  • Happy new diary.

At six months they don't even notice but I know what you mean about wanting to give them something. Something practical - baby walker maybe?
  • That is a great idea, I read a lot to her now so yes I will definitely get her some books, thank you x

  • Well it has been a hectic week, as little one has come down with a cold so this mumma hasn't moved from the sofa cuddling her whilst she sleeps. I'm exhausted as we have gone back to waking up in the night for feeds, it is quite nice being able to cuddle her like when she was a newborn !

Anyway I will update my lists above.
