I would suggest that next time you do a switch you open another basic a/c with that bank- then at least you have got one 'spare' in the bag!!

Bumping an old thread - I've successfully completed a switch. I used Nationwide Flex Account as my donor account as I'm currently banking with Nationwide anyway so it made the registration process faster.

I'm now looking to do another switch. Can I just set up this Nationwide Flex Account all over again to use as the donor account? Also, would this cause any problems if I keep opening this Flex Account then leaving as part of (several) switches?

This is basically what I do - at any given time I have two Nationwide accounts and I only open a second to replace one when it gets closed. This way the account is open for a few months rather then open and closed within a week or so.

    That's what I've done?

I bank with Nationwide. I have a FlexDirect account.

I'm now looking to get the switch bonuses from other banks so I set up another Nationwide account (Flex Account) and have used this as the donor account. It is now closed as I've just done a switch (with First Direct). I now want to do another switch, so what I'm asking is - is it ok to open up the same Flex Account again to be used as a donor account?

If you want to keep Nationwide "sweet", then as suggested above its best not to push your luck with them. If you've already completed a switch to "bank A" that you care less about then why not set up a donor account with them, instead? (Unless you have already received your switching incentive from bank A in which case just use the account that you previously switched to.)

No, what I am saying is that you have switched to First Direct, so open a second a/c with them to become a donor- then switch that second account. I personally wouldn't mess around with Nationwide too many times- I like to have the access to 5% RS

Ok thanks all. So I've just left my donor Nationwide account (Flex Account) to bank with First Direct. I would set up another First Direct current account to use as the donor however they don't have any other currently accounts. So I'm back to square 1. Would Monzo or Starling be a good choice as they're quick to open?

You'd need to check the T&Cs, but I don't think there is anything stopping you opening up a second current account with FD even if they are the same "type" of account. It would be easier than trying to open up an account with another organisation since you've already been ID'd, etc.

As for Monzo/Starling, they are both very quick to open, and both participate in CASS so can be used for switching if you're inclined to go down that route.
