Andypix said that in his opinion, your opinion was ridiculous.
You have an opinion about how long a laptop should last, Andypix has an opinion about your opinion.
I must say however, that I agree totally with his opinion.0 -

Wether you are confident or not doesnt affect how long the laptop lasts. Software issues have nothing to do with that. You could install ransomware by mistake on day 1 of ownership - by your logic that laptop is now fit for the bin :rotfl:
This is a moneysaving site - not a money wasting site - software problems do not a dead laptop make
My comments hopefully will inform future readers of this thread that a laptop can last perfectly well for many years and is not ready for retirement after 2 years like you say.
Quite constructive n'est-ce pas ?0 -
I've taken the laptop to my local John Lewis store as they requested. A few weeks later they contacted me and said that the repair will cost £380 but they could not guarantee that it will remedy the issue. They said further repairs may be required. I refused to pay and complained to their Customer Service and this is the email I received from them:
"I am sorry to learn that your Lenovo Laptop has developed a fault.
As stated, your local John Lewis branch quoted £380.00 to repair the laptop. This is down to the discretion of the Partner in-store, therefore we are unable to over rule this decision.
When the goods where supplied to you, this was fit for purpose and of excellent quality. This purchase also included a 2 year guarantee. As it has now been over 2 years since you purchased the laptop, we are unable to repair your laptop under the guarantee.
However, I can suggest that you contact the manufacturer, Lenovo, who may be able to assist you further regarding this matter."0 -
One contact Lenevo see what they say but they are under no obligation .

The issue was eventually resolved only after contacting John Lewis's Head Office. The complained was then escalated and they offered to cover half the cost of the repair which I thought was fair. The laptop has now been repaired.0
