Help -Pay and display car park modus operandi

Hi Guys, please bear with me for basic question, as I am a new driver and newbie on this forum.
Someone visited a car park, where it states that car park is controlled by attendant patrols. They forgot to register themselves in one of the associated vendor tablets and stayed there without a valid display ticket on the dashboard. Luckily when they came back, there wasn’t any parking ticket on the car.
Even though they have verified at the car park ticket machines and found that there is no way to enter the car registration number. Is there any way they can receive a parking charge notice ? Will attendant slap the notice on car wind shield or will attendant simply note down the registration details and send the parking charge notice by post ?
Not sure that how these car park operates and are there any hidden ANPR system to monitor cars ?

you would need to have entered your VRN into the machine for ANPR system to work or indeed entered it on a tablet
in the case of an ANPR ticket it should be received within 14 days0 -
Thanks, How can I check if ANPR system is in place in that car park ? There are no notices in car park about ANPR, there are cctv like round cameras but not big rectangle white ones.0

your checking will be completed 14 days after the event , if they should send a ticket after 14 days they cannot go after you (the car owner) , only the driver , who might not have been you
unless they have read this forum and quote your opening post0 -
Thanks modified, but how these pay and display car park operates ?
If someone is not visiting one of the associated vendor and decides to put display tickets, how will automated system know that they have paid ?0 -
an anpr system cannot work if the machine does not ask you to enter your VRN
who is the parking company0 -
And attendant patrol will put PCN on wind shield or will do it by post ?0
-
but how would the attendant know that you had not entered vrn at tablet
who is the parking company0
