Projected usage
Hi Guys, My fixed deal is due to end 31st dec, but can switch 50 before without incurring the £60 penalty.I have just looked at two comparison sites and Scottish powers projection for my usage which I have put on all three.
SP are my providers at present and they say, if I do not change tariff I will pay £1301 next year.
Uswitch say £1313
MSE’s energy club say £1375.
Anyone explain why the variance, as I thought they all worked on the same formular?
MSE’s are £74 more than SP.
How can one get a proper comparison if they all differ?
Obviously the Saving will depend on any cashback to be gained or not.

The price given by SP on their bills/statements is the price for the 12 months from the date of that bill/statement. i.e. it includes over 2 months at whatever tariff you are currently on.
I cannot say why there is a difference between the 2 comparison sites. I suggest you try a third site (not MSM as that is what MSE use) and see what result you get. If you get 2 answers the same, that is probably the correct answer.
Alternatively, if you provide your supply region (or first part of your postcode), the anticipated annual consumption figures you have input into the comparison sites, and the excat SP tariff you are referring to, perhaps someone will look into the issue for you0 -

You would not get equivalent quotes otherwise!
Surely they have to use the same formular?
Will try compare the market see what they come up with :beer:0 -
All sites take into account the remaining tariff at the rate I am already paying, 10 months (approx,) then Svr for the remainding two months to make up 12 months don’t they?

But you say you are getting differing quotes
As for comparison sites, it depends on what informnation you have provided, and what outputs you are looking at. The annual cost should be the same for any given supplier/tariff. Whilst most comparison sites follow the Ofgem mandated formula in regards to savings (not annual cost), MSE does not, at least by default.
If you need someone to look into this further for you, you need to provide the information I requested previously, plus details of the tariff you are currently on.0 -

you must be doing something wrong - I put in my 7200kwh into the comparison sites and get about 50+ tariffs that come up with a spread of annual costs of between about £950 as the lowest and over £1400 for the highest. My present tariff comes out at £904 but it's not available anymore
That's the same for all the comparison site that I useNever under estimate the power of stupid people in large numbers0 -
Compare the market have come up with £1314,£1 less than
U switch, £13 more than SP, but where MSE’s got their figures from I don’t know, will double check them again.
Cheapest fix for me Now, is Eon, saving £119, but can get variable from blue planet for £995, pa,but not keen on variable, but another £100+ saving.
I can move now and incur the £60 penalty, but for another 4weeks, will probably wait.:beer:0 -
I'm sorry the questions I posed earlier appear too difficult for you to answer.
I'll leave you to it. You are claerly ignoring me anyway. This could be a very long thread.
Good luck!0 -

I can get savings of up to £300+ depending on the tariff I choose.
So all comparison sites I have just quoted here (3)are roughly the same as SP,none identical, MSE’s is totally different.

That was not the question, it was why MSE’s were out than the others on projected price, as of now,not what I can get it for when/if I switch.
Thanks anyhow:beer:0
