Amazon - can I force them to collect incorrect item (heavy!)

I ordered a very heavy wood splitting axe from Amazon..they sent the wrong product.. same manufacturer but a cheaper/different axe and still heavy. I asked for a replacement and they sent one - but it was also the same wrong product too!
Amazon have admitted that they got it wrong, but are asking me to send the two incorrect axes back for refund... this is incredibly difficult for me because
a) - the original axes came in pretty flimsy packaging and they are both very very heavy
b) - I work away during the week and physically getting this sorted is a hassle I simply don't want
Can I insist that these incorrect products are collected from the original point of delivery (my house)? Amazon refusing to budge saying 'the system doesn't allow us to arrange collection' - I am going around in circles with them. What are my rights here?

You can probably push for collection but how will that work if you are not at home for collection? The solution with the least hassle for you would be to get a returns label from them and you drop it off at a post office or shop with a collection point that suits you, that could even be one closer to where you work if that's more convenient than taking a day off and waiting at home.0

Thanks, there is someone here who can hand over the package when collected. I simply do not wan the hassle of getting a huge box to a collection point or arranging to courier back myself.0

As someone who has a wood splitting axe, bought from amazon a few years ago actually, I think your definition of huge is different to most people's.
I think your being slightly unreasonable and Fosterdog's suggestion is probably the best0 -

But as the OP has two axes that need returning, the total size and weight may well be a bit unwieldy to handle.0 -
Each axe was sent in a box 5' long. I now have one box with 10kg of contents. I simply want to know if I can insist that they are collected from the point of delivery. I am trying to avoid having to cart this box off myself.0

So the axes weigh 5kg each and you think that's "very very heavy" :rotfl: . If a 10kg package is too heavy for you then surely the obvious solution is to send them back in separate packages how they arrived.0 -

You might find that they refuse to accept them packaged together, plus you'd only have proof of one item being collected and not two.
Just put them in their respective original boxes, you really are making this difficult for yourself.0 -
Phone Amazon and tell them it's their mistake and they will need to collect them. Speak to a manager if the operator refuses to budge.0

i would suggest packing as 2 seperate items, they are looking for 2 returns your method is 1 return. Also 10kg ain't heavy0
