Mine last a few months before needing a charge - 4-6 months or so, which I am completely happy with.
Mainly active overnight. During the day only when we are out. So not particularly heavily used.
They're on motion activation 99% of the time, so pretty much dormant unless a cat, bird or moth (or postman) activates them.
We disarm them if moving around the garden or paths ourselves, no point in watching ourselves on video, and using up battery power to do so.
We use the Panasonic Industrial batteries. We've tried regular types, but they don't last anywhere near as long as the Panas. All the cameras are outside, too... I think best case was 14 months out of one set.0 -
Plus, hackers or not, there will always be videos of you/your family saved in some servers somewhere in China, Russia, Singapore or wherever their servers are. Maybe this data will never leave those server and will be deleted eventually, but who knows.
I refer back to my earlier comment. If you're using them to video you or your family, you're using them wrong.0 -
No, I'm not talking about using them to video me or my family. I'm saying that if you use those cameras indoors (and many people do, as you can see), whatever happens in front of them will be stored in servers somewhere around the world. That's all. I'm not comfortable with that.I refer back to my earlier comment. If you're using them to video you or your family, you're using them wrong.
What was that story about those wireless, baby-monitoring cameras that got hacked some time ago?0 -
That was nothing to do with cloud based camera services, after all what's the point of a baby monitor that has cloud storage. And how do you think live feeds work, if not via an external server? That was nothing to do with cloud based camera services, after all what's the point of a baby monitor that has cloud storage. It was the live feeds that were hacked.
That actually still proves my point: a bug/exploit/security flaw in the system gave unauthorised access to your cameras. Once someone gets access to your camera, recording live feeds is a piece of cake.0
