christmas saving 2008

does anyone have any suggestions where i could invest a regular amount of money each month so save for christmas 2008? a few of us got together and put a total of £250 per month away for 12 months, this has just been paid back £3000 + £114 interest. I am wondering if there are any better rates? It looks like we earned less than 4p per pound.

Why not go for Skipton Building Society's Xmas Saver 2 account paying 7.55%. You can save between £10 - £250 per month. They give you access to your funds on 25th November 2008, just in time for Christmas spending.

    More details here.

    eg £250/month from November? so i would save 12 x £250 + interest =

sorry for asking but im not good at working stuff out.

The interest does vary slightly depending on what date of the month you make oyur deposits. A basis rate taxpayer would make approximately £98 - £100 net interest. A non taxpayer would make around £122 gross interest.

Check out the Smile Bank calulators which I use when I'm in a hurry.
