Moniter keeps switching off

When I start my computer the screen keeps switching off after a couple of seconds. At first I thought it was a loose wire, but when I get the internet running it stops happening.
Any ideas what it could be ?
Thanks.

  • It could be something conflicting when you boot up but I'm no expert so hopefully someone else might have a better idea.

If you use Windows, check the "Power Options" in the Control Panel. A power-saving mode might be kicking in. Some monitors don't seem to cope very well with the monitor being blanked or put into standby...

My one goes off then back on. The problem is coming from the washing machine and other large electrical things switching off and on and upsetting the power supply. I've almost solved the problem by using a large extension cable to the monitor, it seems to be smoothing the supply. You could give that a try.
    Good luck!
  • I also have been driven mad by this happening the past few weeks, and guess what I have been using stand-by over this time,so maybe this is the cause of my problem will let you know.
