CCJ on credit file - can anyone help?

Options
Hi, first of all I’m new here - another forum directed me here so if I do anything ‘wrong’ or am in the wrong place please let me know.

I am 37. Sadly both my parents passed away so I own my home outright with money I inherited. However I recently accepted a job elsewhere in the country and decided to rent somewhere at first while renting my property out and discovered I had a CCJ which meant I couldn’t rent a property through an estate agents.

I’m really confused about it. I can’t find who it’s from or more Iimportently when I got it - as I believe it is spent after six years?

My big worry is if I do want to apply for a mortgage in the future that this will have a detrimental affect and my credit generally.

Can anybody help?

Thanks a lot :)

Contact the court, quote the case reference number and ask them for details of it.
Mortgage started 2020, aiming to clear 31/12/2029.
  • Check all 3 of your credit files.

Use the MSE Credit Club for Experian.
    Clearscore for Equifax
    Noddle for CallCredit

Northampton bulk centre will be able to help you.

What date was the CCJ registered ?

After six years it will be gone, I take it the creditor is not enforcing the judgement ?

Check your credit files it will show the CCJ on there, with the date, amount, and the claim/case number. Contact the court, most likely Northampton CCBC, that you will need to give the claim number to them and confirm ID, they will then then tell you who requested the CCJ. Are you not getting any letters chasing the debt, and if you are not at the property now, what happens with your post.

CCJ's don't become spent, your credit file only shows the last 6 years of your credit history, the Trust register only shows CCJ's for 6 years. Just if the creditor has not tried to enforce the CCJ within 6 years they would need to apply to the court with good reason why they haven't done so in that six years.

You need to check how old the CCJ is because one enforcement option is a Charging Order.
