Moss can hold moisture in, which in freeze/thaw conditions can cause damage to certain types of surfaces, although it's probably not seen as a really serious problem.0

It depends what is causing moss to grow esp after the very hot summer . Is there a burst / slow leaking pipe underneath?
Moss needs water . A poor draining patio could be a cause .0 -
^ Could just be a shady area. Soda crystals removes moss.
