I was getting DLA since I was 15 and I got a letter about DLA ending and to claim PIP which I did. Today I got a letter saying that they won't give me PIP. This was my only source of income. I have no friends or family who can help me or give me money or anything. What do I even do? I can't deal with this
Firstly your PIP, you have 28 days to request the Mandatory reconsideration. You should put this in writing stating what you disagree with and where you think you should have scored those points and your reasons why. PIP isn't awarded based on a diagnosis, it's how those conditions affect you daily. Evidence will also be needed to support your claim.

Why was the DLA the only money you received? Do you live with a partner that works? Do you live with parents or rent your home? If you can give some more information about your circumstances then someone will advise you.

I live completly on my own in a council flat

You don't get housing benefit/council tax reduction/income support?
  • Evidence from your DLA claim would be useless anyway. They don't want letters and medical reports from when you were 15 they need evidence from now. Evidence of how your condition is effecting your life and ability to carry out the tasks now.

I did get housing benefit with the council tax reduction and it went directly to the HA so I don't really count it as income. Sorry for being confusing. I did recently move to the council flat and am trying to get the address changed but it's taking ages. I'm worried this will just get messed up too.
Did you move to a different local council or to the same one? If it was to a different local council then you will have to claim Universal Credit and not housing benefit like before.

If it's to the same local council then you'll need to claim housing benefit from your local council, it's not just a change of address.

Are you not claiming anything like JSA or ESA. If not and you're not fit for work then again you'll need to check what's in your area. If it's a full universal credit area then it's Universal credit you claim, otherwise it will be ESA with a fit/sick note from your GP.

    Check your area here. http://ucpostcode.entitledto.co.uk/ucdate

I guess I shouldn't waste my time with the reconsideration then? I guess I should have posted earlier so I didn't waste money on the postage of that form.

No, I would continue with it - but don't expect the DWP to change it's mind at the mandatory reconsideration stage.

Go on to appeal their decision to the Tribunal Service. They are independent of the DWP and are very thorough. Go to the tribunal and tell them about your day to day life, your spoken evidence will be very important to them.

But I don't even know where to get evidence or anything. Even if I did go to a GP I don't know what they could do other than look at old stuff. I did check out the CAB website but I didn't want to get help from them with the first form because I was too scared.

Honestly I'm just kind of useless and it's not like I would be missed so I'm no one worth giving any money to. The money that would be given to me is better off with someone else although I doubt it works like that.

Please go to your GP and see what help they can give you. MIND may be a helpful organisation for you.

As an aside, PIP should cover depression and anxiety. It's likely the assessor did a very poor job in your case.
Our CAB frequently see clients go from nil points to an award - it's very common.

    Please, look after yourself.

This forum is totally anonymous so you please can tell us why you haven't been to the doctor in years and why you were previously living in a hostel. This may help us give you more detailed help.

You say that the staff in the hostel told you to apply for JSA but it was too difficult. Why was that? Do you feel that you are unable to work or couldn't cope with the admin side of it?

Why were you awarded DLA in the first place?

These may be difficult questions for you to answer but no one here should judge you. You cannot survive with no money so you must do something. There is other help available but we need to know something about your situation to steer you in the right direction.
